Garment Care
Your Valentine Equine pieces are designed to be worn, ridden in and enjoyed. A little extra care will help keep your pieces looking and performing at their best for longer.
Taking a few extra moments when washing and drying your Valentine Equine pieces can help preserve their fit, feel, colour and performance so they’re ready for many more days in and out of the saddle.
Please note: These are general garment-care recommendations. Always follow the care instructions provided on the individual product label, as requirements may vary between fabrics and products.
Garment Care guidelines
♥ Always check the individual care label before washing
Fasten zips, buttons and hook-and-loop closures to help prevent snagging. Turn garments inside out before placing them in the washing machine.
♥ Only wash when needed
Washing technical fabrics too often can shorten their life. Avoid over washing by airing garments out between wear.
♥ Wash with similar colours together
Light coloured items should be washed separately from darker garments to prevent colour transfer.
♥ Use cold water on a gentle or delicate cycle
Hot water can break down and damage stretch materials and silicone grip. Top load machines can overstretch fabrics
♥ Choose a mild detergent and avoid harsh chemicals
Excess soap, mineral/metal heavy water, UV and overuse of bleach can impact fabrics, causing fibres to yellow, dull or fade.
♥ Treat stains as soon as practical
For best results, don’t allow stains to set. Gently remove excess dirt or mud before washing and use a suitable mild stain treatment where required. Avoid soaking or aggressive scrubbing, particularly on printed, embroidered or technical areas. We recommend sunlight soap or similar for tough stains. Apply a small amount to the wet stain and gently rub.
♥ Air dry naturally
Air drying is the gentlest option for your riding wardrobe. Dry your garments in the shade to maintain elasticity and prevent fading. Do not tumble dry as heat damages technical fibres and silicone grip.
X Do not tumble dry
High temperatures can damage and weaken elastic fibres, silicone detailing, prints and other technical finishes.
X Do not iron
High heat can melt or scorch synthetic fibres and ruin performance features like moisture-wicking and breathability. Some technical fabrics lose their stretch permanently when overheated. Ironing directly over logos, prints, silicone or embellishments may cause melting, peeling, cracking or smearing.
X Do not leave wet garments sitting – hang out straight away
Reshape garments while damp and hang or lay flat to dry in a well-ventilated area, away from direct heat. This will reduce the risk colour transfer.
